After being announced back on June 10th, 2021 the team over at Stray Bombay have announced that The Anacrusis will be releasing in an Early Access format on January 13th, 2022. In a recent Dev Blog video over on their YouTube Channel, Chet Faliszek and Will Smith (no not that Will Smith) went over a number of items players can expect to see when the game launches early next year.

Why Early Access?
In the Dev Blog, both Chet and Will hit on the idea that they wanted “to be able to actively work on this [The Anacrusis] with the community and not just simply react to bugs and stuff like that.” With Chet following on to say the team are hoping to actively take on feedback from players and “will meaningfully change the game based on the community.” Despite the term Early Access being used Will reassured players that “we’re really proud of the episodes we’ve built, we think they’re representative of a final game.”

What Can We Expect?
The game’s Early Access model is set to be in place for 9-12 months. During this time the game will release with the first three episodes. In the Dev Blog video Will noted that “each [of the three episodes are] a little bit different. They have some different elements, and we want to see what people like and what people don’t like.” The episodes themselves are “complete representations of our vision for The Anacrusis”. Along with these three episodes, players can expect a full cross-play experience with weekly challenges, a progression system and additional components that will undergo continued polishing such as the Director 2.0 and the UI. Smith also mentioned that this was only the beginning for The Anacrusis as “what we’ve built is a base, we can add more perks, we can add more weapons, we can add more enemies, we can add more worlds.”
The Anacrusis is set to release on January 13th, 2022 at 10am Pacific Time and will be available on PC (Steam & Epic Games Store), Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass (Xbox & PC).
